Over the past two weeks, my partner and I made an important decision - we decided to delve into the world of video game design. Starting from scratch, our goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the game-making process and acquire valuable experience along the way.

We had this idea brewing for nearly five years, but we lacked the necessary experience, resources, and budget to pursue it until now. So why did we choose this year to finally take the plunge? The answer lies in the rapid maturity of AI tools, which have significantly reduced costs and risks associated with developing a game from scratch without prior experience.

AI tools such as ChatGPT have proven invaluable in helping us quickly and efficiently design the background story of our game, as well as aiding us in coding. On the visual front, Graphic AI Toolchains like Midjourney and Stable Diffusion have made it easier for us to create stunning visual designs for our game. These AI tools have essentially eliminated many of the obstacles that previously hindered aspiring game developers like us.

Without the maturity of Graphic AI Toolchains today, we would have struggled to acquire graphic skills within a short timeframe. As both my partner and I are software programmers without prior experience in graphics, these AI tools have been a game-changer for us.

In the past two weeks, we have been experimenting with various Graphic AI toolchains, including Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, DALL-E, and more. However, due to the limited time we have spent exploring these tools, we are yet to fully grasp their potential. Rest assured, I will share my insights on these tools in a future post, once I have had more time to delve into them. In the meantime, if any of you have any great ideas or suggestions, we would love to hear from you.
